Student Cyclists Fundraising for Cancer: Texas to Alaska

Yesterday, Northway Motor Inn had the pleasure of accommodating “Texas 4000;” a group of students from the University of Texas, who are on a 70-day cycling journey from Austin, Texas, to Anchorage, Alaska, as a non-profit fundraiser for cancer research. A group of 7 of the 28 students completed the “Dease Lake Challenge,” where the cyclists ride 206 miles/331 KM in one day (they left Meziadin Junction at 6:00 a.m., and arrived exhausted in Dease Lake at 2:00 a.m. the following day!). We wish them the best of luck for the rest of their journey, and in their goal for raising $600,000 this year - only $8,000 more to go!
